As you can see it is not cheap raising Horses... and there is always something else that is needed.

Please donate what you can for these animals. They need loving and a good home.

Yearly Cost: per Horse

Hay - 1 bale per week X 52 = $520.00
Supplements (GX or Senior) = $750.00
Salt / Sunflower seeds = $60.00
Wormers = $65.00
Fly Control (Fly masks & spray) = $30.00
Hoof Care - Shoed = $480.00 (every 2 months)
Bare Foot Trimming= $240.00 (every 2 months)
Vaccinations (5-1 & West Nile) = $50.00
Vets (non emergency) = $150.00
Teeth Floating = $125.00
Chiropractor = $50.00
Basic Supplies ( Grooming & stable supplies) = $50.00


TOTAL = $1,940.00 - $2,180.00 per year

Apache Junction Horse Rescue averages 10 horses throughout the year for a total cost of $19,400.00 - $21,800.00.

AJHR would love to buy our hay in bulk i.e.: a squeeze; but we do not have the funds to purchase hay or the build a hay barn. If we did this it would save us an estimated $2,000.00 per year.
